FLY
The Dixie Chicks

Price $ 12.58
After the roaring success of Wide Open Spaces--a blend of turn-of-the-century pop and country traditionalism--what do you do for an encore? Rather than deliver more of the same, the Chicks have chosen instead to up the ante in country radio with a follow-up that's both poppier and twangier than its predecessor, and just plain better too.

Ready To Run [Import]
The Dixie Chicks

Price $ 10.99
This song is cool. This release has not only "Ready To Run" but also "Wide Open Spaces" which is also a great song. This group is so-to-say a little of both pop and country, this album on the fast tracks they go with the pop flavor, and on the slower ones they go with their country roots. This Dixie Chicks album is something special because you cannot get it in regular stores. If you completely love this song and not the "Fly" album, then you got to get this, if you are a fan of both Ready to Run and Wide Open Spaces then get this cause it is hot. Both of these tracks have been burning up the country air waves with request after request and fans have been getting the full album with just liking the top hits, don't make the same mistake, buy this, it will make your life a little easier than to have a bunch of nonsense tracks that you have to skip over time after time.

It has some songs on it that are so beautiful . I think it is one of the best the chicks have done. Keep up the good work.

Wide Open Spaces
The Dixie Chicks

Price $ 12.58
The major-label debut from this Texas trio proves their instrumental abilities, blending more traditional twang with slow melodic blues, foot-tapping rockabilly, and bluegrass-inspired pop harmonies. From the opener, "I Can Love You Better," the Chicks let their love of music and genuine joy shine through while the energy on this album reminds one of Carlene Carter. Solid musicianship, top-notch vocal performances, and infectious pop hooks make this a stellar project.

Broke Down
Slaid Cleaves

Price $ 13.99
Singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves builds a bridge between New England, where he grew up, and Texas, where he now lives. Cleaves's voice often affects a yearning quality reminiscent of traditional Irish music, and his songs are populated by the sort of tragic characters familiar to old folk ballads. In "Cold and Lonely," a poor farmer grieves for his dead wife and children, while the narrative "Breakfast in Hell" is a Canadian logger's answer to "John Henry." The suffering takes a more personal turn in "One Good Year," where Cleaves laments, "It's a bitter wind, in your face every day / It's the little sins, that wear your soul away." But just when the downcast mood begins to grow oppressive, Cleaves comes back with the defiant "Bring It On" and the redemptive "This Morning I Am Born Again," featuring Woody Guthrie's amazing lyrics set to new music. --Rick Mitchell

Life's Other Side
Slaid Cleaves

Price $ 15.19
russell ferguson: I heard Broke Down for the first time on KFAN - Texas Rebel Radio and thought that this is the best example of song writing that I have heard in a long time. The rest of the album is definitely reflective of what song writing should be.

No Angel Knows
Slaid Cleaves

Price $ 13.99
Slaid Cleaves's way of writing and singing a song is a Godsend to those of us who can't quite get behind urban folk in the way we wish we could. His voice is direct, gentle and a little country, sincere and clear. The production on his CDs is wonderful. His songs are honest and descriptive. He reminds me a bit of Tom Dundee and a bit of Greg Brown but he's not like either of them. He's bright and sensitive and not particularly angst-ridden, as far as I can tell, and that's _OK_, and I recommend him very, very hightly to you.
